Hogan 1 Iron

13"x 18"

This piece captures one of golf's true all time great moments, Ben Hogan's one iron shot on the 72 nd hole of the 1950 U.S. open at Merion. The old U.S. Open setup of thirty six holes on Sunday was grueling for any golfer, but especially for Ben Hogan. Beneath his golf slacks, he was covered in bandages from waist to ankles resulting from a recent car crash. He made his way to his ball,
steadied himself on his unsteady legs, and hit one of the greatest
golf shots of all time to force par and an eighteen hole playoff the
next day, which Hogan won easily. This victory marked the rebirth of Hogan's career and the real beginning of his legend. This piece also includes a Ben Hogan replica golf ball encased in a shadowbox.
